Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash that happened Sunday night on Cedar Lane.

At just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a box truck on Cedar Lane near Central Avenue Pike. The motorcycle passenger, an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle driver, an adult man, was transported to the UT Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Based on the investigation conducted at the scene and witness statements, it is believed that the motorcycle was driving recklessly when it collided with the truck, which was nearly stopped and preparing to make a right turn at the time of the collision.

KPD crash reconstruction personnel responded to the scene and are leading the investigation into the crash.
